1) More on Dr. Hardell’s paper re. Conflict of interest and bias in ICNIRP and the WHO. I highly recommend you read this 9 page report to get the history and significance of the industry connection with the WHO. WHO is the key to THE problem of re. Exposure to and proliferation of wireless radiation. WHO sets guidelines that Health Canada follows, blindly.

Then provincial officers, like Perry Kendall, blindly follow Health Canada. The scientific experts are organizing to confront WHO for its support of the telecom industry at the expense of our health.

As concerned citizens we need to organize and voice our concerns, too, if things are ever going to change. World Health Organization, radiofrequency radiation and health – a hard nut to crack (Review), June 21, 2017 Today the International Journal of Oncology published a critique of the World Health Organization’s pending review of the adverse health effects of wireless (i.e., radio frequency or RF) radiation. The critique was written by Dr. Lennart Hardell, the world’s preeminent researcher on brain tumor risk and long-term cell phone use. His paper provides an historical overview of WHO’s EMF Project, WHO’s relationship to the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), and the relationships of both organizations to the military and electric and telecom industries. Hardell notes that the WHO has relied heavily on members of ICNIRP, a non-governmental organization “with serious conflict of interest.” In their reviews of the scientific evidence for adverse health effects from wireless radiation exposure, ICNIRP dismisses the evidence for biological effects due to non-thermal exposures.

By focusing only on short-term heating effects and ignoring the effects of chronic exposure to non-thermal levels of RF radiation, ICNIRP has been able to adopt RF exposure guidelines about 300,000 times more permissive than otherwise would be required. RF exposure standards in many nations including the U.S. Have been heavily influenced by these guidelines. “The ICNIRP guidelines are of huge importance to the influential telecommunications, military and power industries.” Dr. Hardell calls upon the public, NGOs, and the scientific community “to exert pressure on politicians to change the WHO agenda on RF radiation and health hazards and decide that WHO’s purpose is to support world health instead of industry interests.” Joel M. Moskowitz, Ph.D., Director Center for Family and Community Health School of Public Health University of California, Berkeley 2) In the EU more money is ready to be spent on smeters and sgrid which have yet to provide any benefits. And note that some of the countries that have had smeters for a few years are now replacing the first smeters with “second generations” – life expectancy is 5-7 years.

Hard to understand how having a meter that must be replaced every few years helps reduce carbon emissions. Western Europe Smart Grid Investment To Reach $133.7 Billion Over Next 10 Years, Northeast Group Reports Meanwhile, first-adopter countries of smart meters, Sweden and Italy, are now starting to replace first-generation smart meters with newer version, a process that will roll out over the next 10 years or so in these regions Strong, including reducing carbon emissions, and increasing renewable energy will need the above mentioned smart grid investments to cut the region’s human-made carbon footprint, and make sure a smooth transition to renewables, Northeast Group said.

Letters: From: X Sent: June 23, 2017 11:26 AM To: Hawe, Jill Subject: Re: BC Ferries at Duke Point Importance: High Dear Jill, Thank you for your response. I’ll definitely go by Duke Point then, instead of the more convenient Departure Bay. Are Queen of Alberni and Coastal Inspiration the only vessels on that run, or do I have to book specifically for one of them or??? How do I best get off V.I.? Safety Code 6 was aimed at fully-dressed soldiers wearing appropriate EMR-reflective gear, not the general public in shorts and sunglasses. WHO IARC says that radio-frequency/microwave radiation from wifi, cell phones, etc.

Is a Class 2B carcinogen, right up there with lead and mercury, and WorkSafe BC reg. 5.58 states that exposing your employees to Class 2Bs is a violation.

You might want to investigate the directors of the Health Canada Royal Commission on Safety Code Six, even IARC, because they are all heavily infiltrated with Big Telecom representatives. No one can get a clear answer if half the directorship has a vested interest in keeping the status quo. BTW, I bought a 1990 Chevy 350 Getaway Van last summer, and tested it with a few short-drive overnight camping trips. Short drives were fine, but if I drove longer distances, eg. Stop-start all day (shopping or whatever) I had leg cramps at night–not muscle spasms, they felt more like arterial spasms. Finally a friend pointed out that both driver & passenger sit about 4″ from the engine itself in that particular RV (and most others, unfortunately) so I took my Gauss meter and measured EMR (low frequency, up to 100 Hz). It squealed in the “danger” ranges as far as I could reach, and as far as my much-longer-armed friend could reach.

I had to sell the RV for danger of blood clots (magnetic fields affect iron in the blood, hence blood flow). I mention the Chevy because your ferry workers are in an enclosed metal space, aka Faraday cage, with all frequencies of EMR bouncing around and through them, everything from ELF (extra-low frequency up to 100 Hz) through wifi, cell, radar and who knows what else the ships themselves use.

I’d hate to think my tax dollars are helping to pay for their long-term disability–but their tax dollars are funding mine, right? Too bad we can’t live in a world that’s safe for life itself instead of racing to the bottom with lots of loonies in our pockets. Thanks again, Jill, for your response. If you could just clarify which ships to avoid on the Duke Point run, that would really help. Is there a certain way to know which is running and at what time? Ollie Johannsen, professor at Karolinska Institute in Stockholme, the very institute that determines who gets the Nobel Prize for Chemistry and Physics each year, says that electromagnetic frequency radiation emitted from wireless devices like wifi should not be used until they have been PROVEN to be safe. He says they have not. He says that the World Health Organization’s classification of this radiation doesn’t go far enough and that, from his studies, it should be classified as at least “probably carcinogenic”. He is presently studying the relationship between cell phones and facial cancer of babies. Please remove wifi from the ferries. I don’t want the exposure.

I don’t have a cell phone or other wireless devices for the above reason. Yours, Mary Lowther From: TL Sent: June 23, 2017 10:10 AM To: Customer Relations Subject: Fwd: BC Ferries – about results in your report Hello again Jill.

I looked a little further into your report and have this reply. Planetworks, the company that did your survey is closely affiliated with the telecom industry and not considered to be independent by health experts. Their website shows that they work with and for the telecom industry. What you should have to represent the needs of those with related health issues is experts who have published research in peer-reviewed scientific journals about the biologic or health effects of EMF. Also, your report makes it sound as if the levels found on the ferries are safe.

The so called ‘Safety Code 6’ is part of the the problem here. It’s allowable level of RF allowed is a whopping 534 microwatts per square centimeter. Planet works results showed that spikes were “only” 20% of the allowed levels. This is nearly 107 microwatts per square centimetre and there are proven biological effects at levels less than 1 microwatt per square centimeter. Studies indicate it is the actual spiking action that is most stressful and damaging to cells.

Here is just one chart showing some biological effects at levels way below.00034 microwatts per centimeter squared. Not only are ferry riders are exposed to dangerous levels during the ride, but your staff is constantly exposed. I hope you will consider reviewing your policy on this – at a start, for those with health concerns. Keep in mind also please that some passengers travel on foot with their pets.

Currently they are forced to sit, crammed close together in a steel box down below with signals bouncing all around just from so many other passengers using their phones. TL Sharon “Cell phones will probably increase many neurological diseases and brain tumors over the next 10 to 20 years.” Dr. Neil Cherry – Professor of Environmental Health Lincoln University, New Zealand Update 2017-06-22 Radiation levels on ferries provided posted June 24/17. 1) Many people wrote to BC Ferries asking for consideration for those who do not want to or cannot be exposed to wifi.

Several have sent me the same form letter they received in response (please see “Letters”). Attached to that letter was a copy of the report that was done by what BC Ferries calls an independent consultant.

That report is at this link. You should know a couple of things. First, Planetworks, the company that did the “survey” is closely affiliated with the telecom industry and is not an independent surveyor. A look at its website shows that it works with and for the telecom industry There are independent surveyors, but Planetworks in all fairness cannot be considered one of them. Second, the report makes it sound as if the levels found on the ferries is low, so low that no one needs to be worried. The allowable level of RF allowed is 534 microwatts per square centimeter. Planetworks took measurements based on Safety Code 6 protocol, that is for 6 minutes in a location, and reports that spikes were “only” 20% of the allowed levels. Indiana gun serial number check.

This is nearly 107 microwatts per square centimeter!! Remember, scientists say that there are biological effects at levels less than 1 microwatt per square centimeter. Scientists have found that it is the spike that does the major damage – stressing the cells. Here is just one chart showing some biological effects at levels way below.00034 microwatts per centimeter squared.

Occasional ferry riders are exposed to dangerous levels during the ride, but those working on the ferries are exposed for many hours at a time. I hope you will consider writing to BC Ferries about this. It would be major if there would be consideration for people in this regard – a major first step.

And Planetworks says that the ferries are no worse than other places they’ve tested, including schools. We’re supposed to be reassured by this. Sorry for the short update, but I’ve been busy finishing my major smart meter fire report which I hope to have ready to share soon. Letters: Letter sent to many who wrote to BC Ferries. Customer Relations wrote: Dear Thank you for writing to share your concerns regarding radio frequency (RF) emissions while travelling with BC Ferries. In response to passenger concerns brought to the attention of BC Ferries regarding the safety of the public from radio frequency (RF) emissions, BC Ferries ordered RF field intensity testing from an independent consultant to be conducted on the Spirit of BC and Coastal Celebration vessels and at the Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen terminals. The purpose of the testing was to insure that BC Ferries was in compliance with the emissions measure of permissible exposure outlined in Health Canada’s “Safety Code 6” document.

Measurement samples were taken from passenger accessible areas located nearby Wi-fi access points over a 2 day period. All test results measured significantly less than the permissible limits and comply with the Health Canada RF power density requirements for Uncontrolled Environments ie. Safety Code 6. The results observed are consistent with other public spaces including schools, offices, urban outdoor space and shopping malls. Wi-fi service is only available on vessels and terminals servicing our major routes between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay, Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay and Langdale and Horseshoe Bay. A Wi-fi free travel option between Vancouver Island and the Mainland can be found on our Duke Point, Nanaimo to Tsawwassen route as the Queen of Alberni and Coastal Inspiration vessels do not offer Wi-fi onboard.

I will be sure to avoid the Tsawwassen to Victoria ferry. I’m a bit shocked and dismayed that you put your faith in the out-dated and inadequate “Safety Code 6”. It is based on heat. This is an obsolete standard and not considering current science which shows cellular and organism harm from non-thermal effects. I feel fairly certain that you cannot be unaware of the many scientific studies and reports that reveal the inadequacy of this “Safety Code”.

While the presence of continual wi-fi may not cause perceptible physical reactions to most of your passengers, it is causing biological changes in all of them, and more important, to the crew–who are being exposed continuously for longer periods. EHS can develop suddenly and unexpectedly, causing horrendous handicaps in our EMF-engulfed environment.

Accumulation of EMF heightens the risk of developing EHS. EMF is no longer just a possible carcinogen; it is a probable one.

Our son developed cancer at age 32. I urge you to do research on this topic and use the Precautionary Principle. Surely you must not wait for lawsuits? The tobacco industry scorned the safety of the public. It seems the telecom industry has the same blindness, putting profits before health. I’m greatly disappointed in your apparently uninformed response.

I can only hope that someone in your field begins to get uneasy enough to do his or her own research, instead of relying on Health Canada, the minister of which is just another puppet. Sincerely, Petrina Gregson Sharon “Those who have the privilege to know have the duty to act.” A. Einstein Update 2017-06-20 Parents in schools in Calif. Being misled about cell tower and RF, while kids are getting cancer posted June 21/17. 1) Further to Hydro in Nanaimo area, I’ve been told that Hydro has not sent out any letters in advance, just showed up at doors telling people they have no choice – take the smeter now or pay the failed installation fee of $69.

People who were home were able to turn their power off. A couple did get smeters with transmitters turned off. Not quite as bad as I reported last night, but still no letters, nothing about expired analogs? If you have been smetered, keep an eye on it. If it gets warm to the touch or gets water inside, call Hydro ASAP. Also if weird electrical things happen like lights flickering, call them.

People have reported things like this happening before their meters failed and burned. 2) Reports from Ellie Marks on a meeting with the school board in Calif.

Where 2 children suffered cancer – parents pleading to remove the cell tower that is on the school. And news about another cancer cluster at another school. Why are school boards refusing to implement the Precautionary Principle? Robeson sounds like Dr. Perry Kendall who says wifi is safe.

“ Here are 2 tv news reports from last night’s meeting where parents, affected children and I approached the School Board about the cell tower on the elementary school grounds- 20 feet from the Kindergarten and first grade classes. These interviews are powerful as they interview the two 10 year boys who have cancer. The Board did not respond last evening but on the last day of school recently one of the board members, Dr. Ziggy Robeson sent a note home in the kids’ backpacks that the FCC and ACS say cellular towers do not cause cancer. These parents have a long battle ahead of them.

Not only does the school board not want to lose the revenue but they are worried about contracts. Turns out there is another on the high school and 6 students have cancer – I just learned about that last night. I was only given 3 minutes to speak but I mentioned the International Appeal, the AAP, the DOI, the GAO, and the US NTP study. I was basically stating the FCC limits are not protecting health- especially that of children. They did ask for a copy of my talk after so I think they will do their homework.

If you know of other schools that have been able to break contracts please let me know. Also, if your children’s school has a cell tower near it please start working to get it removed. Also, there is a big movement worldwide to get wifi out of schools.

Hope you will consider joining that movement. The reporter in the FOX 40 did not quote me correctly. Thanks, Ellie Marks California Brain Tumor Association 3) Even though we all have our doubts about whether our comments will be taken seriously, we cannot miss the opportunity to raise our concerns about 5G technology to ISED. Smeters and insomnia. Waking up when transmitters send signals or download data (which often is done in the middle of the night when networks have the least traffic) is commonly reported by those living near cell and radio towers, and now smeters. My guess is this will get worse with the microcells outside homes. Not so Smart Meters (san jose west) “I usually find conspiracy theories amusing, but usually easily refuted.

A colleague who questions all questioned why I mentioned awaking at exactly 3am, since he did as well. Then he mentioned the smart meters and their EMF. I kinda laughed inside but then my mom mentioned waking right at 4am. I wrote it off as the typical stress/anxiety nonsense, but it came back.

Now I’m hearing from other people, who don’t mention smart meter, but they do mention newer insomnia and other issues that never occurred in their homes before. There are not that many stressed/anxious/insomniac folks out there. Ours is right at the porch, like most homes. It gives reason to live in a condo.

I’m going to request to remove it, or look into shielding it somehow. Or, go off the grid.” Sharon When you’re surrounded by people who share a passionate commitment around a common purpose, anything is possible. Howard Schulz, Exec.

Chairmam, Starbucks Update 2017-06-19 Scientists appeal for moratorium on 5G posted June 21/17. Correction and amendment to last night’s update about cell towers and the rash of applications. And in Sooke I learned today that Shaw has multiple applications for cell towers in Sooke city centre and the residential areas near to Sooke. 1) A member is warning that Hydro is taking analogs, installing smeters without warning or turning power off, on Protection Island in Nanaimo Harbour.

This is counter to everything Hydro has said it would do – write to people in advance, allow everyone a chance to turn power off, etc. And to have a smeter with the transmitter turned off. I suggest people complain to Hydro and about this.

If Hydro is bullying and barging in – this should be reported. Also, many of the analogs were replaced 2-3 years ago with “new” analogs that should have varied lengths of time until expiry date. It sounds as if they are going wholesale – no exceptions. 2) In Colorado a group is attempting to make it illegal to sell a cellphone that will be used by anyone under 13. A copy of the Appeal was appended to the letter. 5G involves transmission of millimeter waves which operate at much higher frequencies than currently used for cellular transmission (30 to 300 gigahertz). Because the range of these signals is limited (i.e., less than a football field), hundreds of thousands of new “small cell” antennas will be required in the U.S. The wireless industry wants to install these not-so-small cellular antennas on existing public utility poles Safety testing for 5G is the same as other wireless devices. On page 8/24 or pg. 322 of the book is a chart showing guidelines for other countries. Until recently Canada’s Safety Code 6 was similar to ICNIRP’s. The new SC 6 (which was revised after protests and complaints by many of us and without explanation) allows exposure at 900 Mhz frequency of 274 microwatts per centimeter squared (uW/cm2) and 439 uW/cm2.
