The rear flanks of the rib have Krieghoff’s inspection mark, the underside of the barrel is marked “C / KK / ULM”, the left side of the barrel set lug is marked “ S / S”, the rear of the upper ejector is marked “2 ¾”.
20 Gauge barrel set: The left side of the upper barrel is marked “H. KRIEGHOFF O H G ULM GERMANY / BUHLER – LAUFSTAL/ MAGNUM / 20 / 76”, the left side of the lower barrel is marked “MAGNUM / 20/76” with an eagle over “N” and “W3854”, the underside flat of the lug has an eagle over “N”, “9 71” date code and an Ulm antler proof, the rear flanks of the rib have Krieghoff’s mark. The back of the upper ejector is marked “3”. Barrel Length: Both barrel sets are 28” long with ventilated ribs and independent barrels.
Choke: 12 Gauge barrel set: Both barrels are choked about Improved Cylinder (0.722”). The 20 gauge barrel set has.410 inserts and ejectors; both barrels have muzzle measurement of 0.402”, which translates to about Modified. These tubes are not removable Sights / Optics: The barrel sets have white bead front sights with metal bases that are screwed into the ventilated ribs, with a smaller steel mid-bead; the top of the ribs are milled in a fine wave-like pattern for glare reduction. The rib on the 12 gauge barrel set tapers from 0.322” at the breech to 0.224” at the muzzle. The 20 gauge (with.410 inserts) barrel set’s rib tapers from 0.290” at the breech to 0.298” at the muzzle.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece fancy European hardwood set. The beavertail forend has finger grooves on the upper flanks with wrap around checkering. The forend has scattered handling marks with a few compressed checkers and some darkened areas from handling.
The inside at the fore-most part of the forend looks to have been expanded; a front view with installed barrels shows a gap in the fit to the barrel. The butt stock features flank checkering on the pistol grip, with ambidextrous palm swells; the widest point of the wrist measures 1.58”. The stock has an added adjustable cheek piece that is set with two metal posts and secured with two set screws; the metal posts have screw marks from different adjustment levels. The stock shows two small chip losses on the underside at the lower tang and left underside at the frame. There are a few scattered dings and compression marks in light to moderate depth.
With the comb in its fully seated position and the 20 gauge barrel set (which has.410 inserts), the drop at comb is 1 7/16”, drop at hell is 2 ½”; with the 12 gauge barrel set installed drop at comb is 1 7/8”, drop at heel is 2 ¾”. The comb’s height is adjustable by about 0.30”. The butt stock is slightly cast-off for right handed shooters.
The trigger is set-screw secured on a slotted base, giving LOP adjustment from 14”, to 14 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber Kick-Eez recoil pad; the pad is set with two metal spacers that are approximately ¼” thick; the recoil pad has scattered light marks and a few shallow tears. The stocks rate in about FIne overall condition. Type of Finish: Blued, with the frame in the white Finish Originality: Factory Original Bore Condition: The bores on both barrel sets do not have any erosion; the 20 gauge barrel set has.410 bore inserts; these inserts are dark by design. The ejectors were modified by adding metal, in order to eject spent shells. Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 93% of its metal finish.
The balance of the finish shows scattered handling marks on both barrel sets, with some light matting to the tops of the ribs; the upper barrel muzzle on the 12 gauge barrel set has some nicks that should not hinder performance. The underside of the lower barrels on the sets have marks from the forend.
There are some factory blemishes on the metal under the finish on both sets. The frame has some small dings on the left side and some tool marks on the right side; the underside has wispy scuff marks, perhaps from a semi-abrasive pad. The upper bolt on the frame has tool marks, the left side of the forend’s pin has tool marks as well. The screw heads show light screwdriver tooling but are highly serviceable.
The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The shotgun features a single selective trigger; the selector is located just in front of the trigger, which is on a rail and set-screw adjustable for different lengths of pull. The ejectors on both barrel sets sent our snap caps flying with authority. The 20 gauge barrel set has.410 bore inserts and the ejectors have added metal to accommodate the smaller shell, please see our pictures. The shotgun weighs 9lbs 3oz with the 12 gauge barrel set and 9lbs even with the 20 gauge (.410) set.
The receiver has a sliding cover that adjusts to different barrel sizes. There is zero play in the frame’s fit to either barrel set. The shotgun has an upper tang mounted safety. The trigger pull is crisp and clean. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards. Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with a 12 gauge barrel set for 2 ¾” shells and a 20 gauge barrel set that has.410 bore inserts for 2 ¾” and 3” shells.
Both sets are described above in “Overall Condition”. Also included is a Zeigel Engineering hard metal case that has scattered marks on the exterior as photographed; the interior has black female Velcro material that provides ample protection; the interior has three barrel separators, a section for the butt stock / frame and another compartment for accessories. The case is in Fine condition and provides lockable latches and a carrying handle.
Also included is a Krieghoff microfiber cloth, in its original bag showing only light use, in Excellent condition. An allen wrench for the adjustable comb is also provided.
Our Assessment: This is a Krieghoff model K-32, with a 12 gauge barrel set and 20 gauge barrel set that was converted to.410 bore 3” shells; the ejectors have been modified to properly eject.410 shells. The shotgun has an adjustable comb and fancy stocks which provide absolute ergonomic splendor; the trigger has an adjustable length of pull and the butt stock is set with a Kick-Eez pad.
A hard metal case is included along with a Krieghoff microfiber cloth and an allen wrench for adjusting the comb. The shotgun shows scattered handling marks indicative of honest use. The bores have no erosion and the action has no play for either set.
This would be an absolutely spectacular sporting clay setup with two gauge options. Please see our pictures and good luck.
